Major FunctionsThe First Annual Day Celebration was held at Karthika Thirunal Club in Trivandrum, where renowned poet Sri. O.N.V. Kurup and Sri. G. Devarajan were the chief guests. During this function, Sri. Perumpuzha Gopalakrishnan sang the song "Ponnarival Ambiliyil Kanneriyunnole...", written by Sri. O.N.V. Kurup and composed by Sri. Devarajan, 45 years ago while they were at the Sree Narayana College in Quilon, in their honour. The second Annual meet was held at Tagore Theatre, Trivandrum, on July 30, 1999 where Prof. Guptan Nair and Dr. D. Babu Paul, IAS (Addl. Chief Secretary) were the chief guests. The club has also been very active in honouring musical talents whether they be young or old In connection with its second Anniversary celebrations Madhurima had conducted a music competition for college and school students. We have honoured youngsters Parvathi and Vidhu Paratap who were chosen as "Yuva Prathibha" ( Voice of the Year - Young Talents) by the Asianet Communications. Kerala State Film music (female voice) award winner Smt. Bhavana Radhakrishnan, Central Music Drama Academy award winner, Sri. Neyyatinkara Mohanachandran, Doordarshan Best singer award winner Mr. Nazim, were all honoured by us in different occasions. In 1998, on Vayalar Day, Madhurima oraganised a special program wherein members sang selected Valayar songs. We also celebrated the International Music Day by organising a meeting at Animation Centre, Vellayambalm, on October 2, 1999, where Sri. Devarajan and Dr. Pushpakrsihnan (Music Dept, Govt. Women's' College, Trivandrum) were the guests of honour. A song written by our President Sri. Perumpuzha Gopalakrishnan imbibing the message "Music for World Peace" was composed by Sri. Siva Prasad was presented before the audience by Madhurima members. At Madhurima, group songs are given more importance and special efforts are given to train the members in this direction by Sri. S.R. Mohanan. Some of these songs are available for download from our site. We have made many public performances in Trivandrum. Some of these were associated with the Onam festival organised as part of the Tourist Week Celebrations by the Kerala Government. Notable Onam musical programmes were the ones staged at Neyyar Dam in 1998, Public Office Building in 1999 and at Poojapura grounds in 2000. For More Information Contact: |
